Twinkle Khanna’s ‘Salaam, Noni Appa’ Is Here As A Play And It’s A Fabindia Treat You Can’t Miss

Twinkle Khanna, I’m sure you’d agree, is easily the finest actor-turned-writer who believes in voicing her inner-self with her bone-tickling humour and satire. As candid as a kite, she is aptly known as Mrs Funnybones and it is not rocket science to figure the reason behind it.

Even with her last best-selling book, ‘The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad’, Twinkle struck chords with her readers and how! I’ll tell you how…A chapter from her book, ‘Salaam, Nonni Appa’ has been now adapted into a play of the same name and it’s a treat to the eyes, to say the least.

In fact, Delhi’s Siri Fort Auditorium recently hosted the play to a packed theatre and it is safe to say that the magic has just begun.

Directed and acted in by the multi-talented artist Lillette Dubey, Salaam Noni Appa is a heart-warming tale of an autumn romance. A story of two sisters, Noni Appa and her sister Binnie, trying to piece together their lives between loneliness and unexpected friendship laced with laughter and lessons.

But apart from the compelling watch it makes, the play is replete with aesthetics that bring it to life. Thanks to Fabindia, that has woven the expression of story-telling into gorgeous outfits. Have a glance at a few pieces of art.

See the hues of the kurtas and dupattas complementing the mood of the play?

The classic Nehru jacket also finds the light.

You’d be mistaken if you think it was just the costumes that set the mood right. It was also the decor and design of the stage that gave the play a life-like feeling.

With the kind of setting it presents, be it the clothes or drapes, it is hard not to fall in love with the nuances offered within the slice-of-life of Noni appa

But now that I ponder, I’m not surprised. Fabindia has long proven its spirit of catering to a varied range of art-lovers and it is almost amazing how well the play adapts the legacy and weaves it into story-telling. So much so that, every factor works to weave magic, rendering one speechless, especially a  play-enthusiast (like yours truly). Sample this:

No, don’t lose heart thinking you have missed your chance to see it. That’s right. St. Andrews Auditorium is about to host the stellar play on the 4th of November (Saturday) and it’s a treat you can’t afford to miss. In fact, it is a nationwide tour that will see you in your cities including Pune (5th Nov), Jaipur (10th Nov), Hyderabad (11th Nov) and Kolkata (12th Nov).

How to make sure you’re not missing all the inside fun and the schedule ahead? Better bookmark Fabindia’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to catch the action when it happens. So, what are you waiting for? Go, watch (or shop)! 😉
