Rent In Toronto Has Gone Up So Much That A Woman Is Renting Half Her Bed For ₹54K

What Mumbai is to India, Toronto is to Canada in terms of living expenses. It is the most expensive city to live in Canada and on top of that, the rent in Toronto has been increasing multifold every month. According to a report by CBC, the average asking price for rent in Toronto in September was $2,149 (Rs 1,30,000 approx), which is 11% more as compared to last year.

The rent has skyrocketed so much that a woman in Toronto is renting half her bed in her master bedroom for 900 CAD (Rs 54,000 approx). In a video that’s gone viral, we get to see the property listing.

“Looking for an easy-going female to share the master bedroom and the one Queen-sized bed. I have been previously sharing the bedroom which only has one queen size with a roommate I found on Facebook, and it worked out perfectly well,” the owner wrote.

The bedroom is apparently in a “lake-facing downtown condo”.

“Just when you thought the Toronto market couldn’t get any worse, it did. This is so unhinged. Renting out a space in your bed for 900 dollars a month? No wonder so many people hate it here,” Anya Ettinger, the woman who shared the reaction video of the listing, said.

“And the worst part is that someone is actually going to rent this,” Ettinger exclaimed.
