FIR Lodged Against Olympic Medalist Sushil Kumar For Murder, Wrestler Absconding

A few days ago, 23-year-old former Junior National Champion Sagar Rana was allegedly beaten to death during a brawl between two groups at the Chhatrasal Stadium parking area. According to The Indian Express, the victims who were injured during the brawl notified Delhi Police that two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar was involved in the incident.

According to the victims’ statements, Sushil Kumar and his associates “abducted” Sagar Rana from his Model Town house to “teach him a lesson” for “bad mouthing” Kumar in front of other wrestlers.

“The accused took the victims inside the stadium where they assaulted them in the parking area. Kumar was present at the spot when the incident happened, however, police are investigating his role in the assault,” the police said.

“We have found during investigation that a quarrel had allegedly taken place between Sushil Kumar, Ajay, Prince Dalal, Sonu, Sagar, Amit and others in the parking area of the stadium,” added the police.

Sagar Rana and a couple of his friends used to live in a house “linked to Sushil” near the stadium. They were asked to vacate the house and were forcefully removed from there.

“Sushil later came to know that Sagar had started bad mouthing him in the Chhatrasal Stadium in front of other wrestlers and also threatened him of dire consequences,” a senior police officer said.

The cops have lodged an FIR against Sushil Kumar for murder, abduction, and criminal conspiracy. They are also currently conducting raids on the outskirts of Delhi, Uttarakhand and Haryana to catch the Olympic wrestler, who is absconding, reports News18.

We hope that the police is able to get to the bottom of this incident.
