Soni Razdan Reveals She Was Almost Raped On A Film Set Once, She Also Knew About Alok Nath

If we’re talking about skeletons in the closet, Bollywood’s got a neverending supply of them. The recent wave of #MeToo in India is making sure that as many tumble out in the open as possible. We’ve already seen enough women speak up about Alok Nath, Sajid Khan and several other names to understand that sexual misconduct was a very rampant powerplay in the industry.

Veteran actress Soni Razdan too has joined the fray and revealed her own #MeToo story.

Wife to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and mother to actress Alia Bhatt, Soni Razdan revealed to the media about how she was almost raped on the sets of a film shoot once.

While she chose to not name the perp, she did reveal that they “didn’t succeed”. Her decision to not say anything at that point was solely because the man had family and kids who would be adversely affected by her revelation.

“You know the only reason I never said anything at that time and it sounds really odd maybe but I realised if I would have opened my mouth that person would have gone through a lot of problems. He had a family, small children. And at that time I said, ok, nothing really happened, I managed to control it but obviously I never spoke to that person again. I did not talk about it because of any shame or anything like that. I felt that I would be hurting his family, whom I knew.

However, she stated that if such a thing had happpened today, she wouldn’t have been “that magnanimous” as before and definitely reported it.

Furthermore, Soni Razdan also spoke about #MeToo accused Alok Nath, saying that she was aware of his Jekyll and Hyde personality.

She revealed how it was alcohol that brought out the monster in him, but when he wasn’t drunk, he was sober. He had once looked at her in a manner that she didn’t like.

“I have seen him behave very very, I would say lecherously after he has been drunk.”

It is indeed astonishing how so many of Alok Nath’s co-stars have spoken up about his lewd behaviour and he continues to deny it. Here’s hoping more women find the courage to speak up, not for the sake of shaming their harassers, but so that they may get some modicum of peace.
