The Indian film industry had a moment of shock when Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre revealed that she has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer, on July 4th, 2018. While the gallant lady continues her treatment in New York, her husband Golie Behl has been a constant pillar of support during the time.
Sonali Bendre, who has acted in popular Bollywood films like Sarfarosh, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Duplicate and many more, married the filmmaker on November 12th, 2002. And yesterday, marked the 16th anniversary of their unbreakable relationship defined by love.
Taking to Instagram, Sonali decided to write down a few words on the special and personal moment. In her note, she termed Goldie as her best friend and companion, highlighting the closeness they share between them. She went on to describe how it has been a resilient battle with cancer but it was Goldie who stood by her through thick and thin. Thanking the 43-year-old, Sonali mentioned that her husband as her source of strength, love, and joy!
As soon I began to write this… I knew instantly that I wouldn’t be able to put down in words all the emotions and thoughts that were running through my head.
Husband. Companion. Best friend. My rock. For me, that’s @goldiebehl. Marriage is standing by each other, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health… and god knows, how we’ve been through that this year.Â
What not many people realize is that cancer is not just an individual battle… it’s something that a family collectively goes through. I was also able to go on this journey, knowing that you’d juggle all your responsibilities, and take on some more and hold fort back home… all this while shuttling between two continents.Â
Thank you for being my source of strength, love and joy, for being with me every single step of the way… thank you is such an understatement for how I feel. What do I say about someone who is a part of you, who is yours and nothing and nobody else matters?Â
