Gauahar Khan’s Latest Short Film Shatters Social Taboos On Being A Single Mum In India

Our nation is a minefield of social taboos. You’re hanging out with boys: taboo. You’re wearing short skirts: taboo. You’re sleeping with your boyfriend: taboo. You’re a single mum: taboo. There seems to be no escaping the judgemental eye of society. However, why try and escape it in the first place? Why worry about conforming to societal norms that are nothing more than an inconvenience? Live your life on your own terms with zero fucks given to society.

In this short film ‘Peanut Butter’, uploaded by Playground Digital Cinema, a single woman, played by Gauahar Khan, finds out she’s pregnant.

She’s burdened with the same old thoughts of ‘log kya kahenge?’.

She’s worried about how society might perceive her and more importantly, whether they would treat her child differently.

All that changes when a strange visitor, played by Dhiraj Totlani knocks on her door, asking for peanut butter.

The visitor comes in with innocuous purposes but leaves a lasting impression on us all.

The film will truly warm your heart.
