Exams are coming!

Exams are hard. They bring along themselves, the 3 devilish ghosts called stress, anxiety, and nervousness. The pressure these days on kids is not quite like what we had gone through. It is far more in some ways. Parents understand that, but sometimes they don’t get what goes on in their kid’s head constantly. And that further worsens the situation for the kids.

Tata Tea Jaago Re came up with a video showing how kids these days are so stressed and worried about exams without realising that it is ok to not excel every time, it is ok to not fuss over the result and sometimes, it is ok to even accept failure and try to do better.

And, more than the kids, their parents need to say that ‘it’s ok’. It is then they would realise that it indeed is. So, the parents need to pre-act and look for the signs which indicate high levels of stress among students.

Dear parents, you may or may not notice, but there are tell-tale signs that your child is going through massive exam stress.

1. Being irritated most of the time.

They may seem in panicky mode, impatient most of the time and may not have a proper conversation with you.

2. Not sleeping properly.

They are tired throughout the day and are losing sleep.

3. Being holed up in the room for long hours, studying.

For hours, they would sit in their room and keep studying without a break, which is not healthy for their body and mind.

4. Fidgeting at the dinner table or making a fuss while eating.

Either they would be in a hurry to finish the meal or not eat at all.

5. Being zoned out or really confused while someone talks to them.

When you try and have a conversation, they seem either disinterested or don’t seem to pay much attention to what you are saying.

Noticed these signs in your child? It’s time to pre-act before the alarm goes off. Just talk to them and tell them it’s ok! Maybe, just saying those two words out loud will actually make things better for them. Because that’s all that they need to hear from you. That it’s ok! Sadly, fear of exam results is one of the leading causes of depression and suicide amongst the kids.

So, pre-act and alarm bajne se pehle, Jaago re!
