You might remember her as the bold and sensuous Sonia from ‘Dil Bole Hadippa!‘ but for many, Sherlyn Chopra was, is and will always be the first Indian woman who posed nude for the adult magazine, Playboy. And boy, did she make the news for that!
In case you have forgotten, it is the same magazine that has, for decades now, kept the legion of porn up and running. And unfortunately, the same mag who lost its pioneer, Hugh Heffner, the original ‘Playboy’ to death today.
And while the world is mourning his death, Sherlyn Chopra is no exception. The actress even took to social media to express her feelings about the man of the moment.
“A true visionary who chose to not conform to the dogma set by the self-proclaimed guardians of the society but instead followed his bliss by acting on his #excitement consistently.”

In fact, in an exclusive interview with News18, Sherlyn has opened up about the experience of working with the tycoon and it is a delight.
“His off-screen persona was a far cry from his onscreen image! He was shy and very soft spoken. I found him to be a thorough gentleman, one who knows how to treat a lady with respect, warmth and benevolence.”
Talking about his way of work, Sherlyn maintained that he was full of life.
She even opened up about the stay at the Playboy mansion and it was an experience of a lifetime.
“My Playboy cover shoot experience was nothing short of a paid luxury vacation. I was pampered silly by Mr Hefner’s staff and crew which made my cover shoot experience highly memorable! Barring the photographer, everybody in the team that did my cover shoot was a young woman with a mind of her own.
They were well trained to think independently together. None of them looked at me as an object or a thing but as a spiritual being in a beautiful, exotic body. It’s that paradigm that made it very comfortable for me to unleash my sexuality. To have met Mr Hefner at his magnificent mansion as his guest was quite exhilarating!”
Re-living her post-shoot feelings, Sherlyn revealed that the photoshoot changed her for good.
“It was a shift in my consciousness. I had become aware of my limiting definitions and beliefs relative to nudity, freedom and morality.”
And now, like they say, there is no going back…
“I then realised that the beauty of life is that it is meaningless. It is the meaning that we assign to things, people, situations and circumstances that determine our experiences.
I chose to give nudity a very beautiful meaning which is unadulterated art.”
Unapologetic and unabashed. Ladies and gentleman, that’s Sherlyn Chopra for you!
