There was a time when Gill went through a dark phase after the sudden demise of her alleged boyfriend actor Sidharth Shukla last year. But over the course of time, she managed to put herself together and live life happily, as Sid would want her to. But she was shamed for moving on.

Today, the jovial and happy-go-lucky woman is doing well in her professional career and has millions of followers. But little do we know that this passionate woman left her home at the age of 22 just to pursue her career in acting.

Recently in an interview, the actor who is also regarded as ‘Punjab Ki Katrina Kaif’, revealed that she returned home only after becoming famous.

“There are very few families in our country who support working women. Mai apne sapnon ko poora karne ke liye ghar se bhaag gayi thi (In order to fulfill my dreams, I ran away from my home). My dreams are my own, and I will do whatever it takes to realize them.”

“I ran away from home. They couldn’t locate me. I returned only when I became famous.”

She further said that even though she was barely managing her life, she overcame her hardships to reach where she is today.

“I was making around Rs 15000, living in a PG, I would go for shoots regularly. They’d (family) keep calling me, but I’d put the phone numbers of my family on the blocked list, even though I was very attached to my grandmother. I wanted to prove myself before talking to them. But patience pays off. And now, they’re all proud of me.”

Shehnaaz is happy that she made that effort and is in a place where she can give her parents everything that they deserve. She recently took her mom on a vacation.

“I recently took my mother on her first international trip to Dubai and the feeling was surreal. It always feels great to do something for your parents.”

Clearly, success doesn’t come with a manual or a shortcut. Kudos to you for paving your own path and making your dreams a reality.
