I come from a quintessential middle-class family. I have grown up watching my parents struggle financially and climb up the professional ladder to finally be able to live a comfortable life. My childhood was filled with typical middle-class things – like adding water to the shampoo bottle, using a belan to squeeze out toothpaste, serving cake, chips and samosa to invitees at a birthday party, and so on.
Now, I live in a rented apartment in a city different from the one I grew up in. And while looking for apartments, I scan through the best possible place that can come for a cheap price and cheaper security deposit. However, it feels like rich people live on a planet of their own because some of them are willing to pay Rs 25 lakhs security deposit for a flat!
I say this because a user on Twitter named Tejaswi Shrivastava shared a screenshot showing how the owner of a 4 BHK flat in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout was asking for Rs 2.5 lakhs rent per month and Rs 25 lakhs security deposit.
Taking a dig at the price, Tejaswi hilariously tweeted, “They should add an option: apply for kidney donation.”
They should add an option:

There were many people online who responded to this tweet by saying that this is exactly how much a 4 BHK lavish apartment in a posh locality in a big city costs. On the other hand, there were also people who were shocked at how expensive this property was to rent.
Here’s a look at some of the responses:
This apartment has cost of upward of 8 CR with vertical garden and pool with lavish balconies. I assume rent is around 2.5 lac pm.

Our landlord broke the news few weeks back that moving forward our rent would be 80k (2x the previous). And now we are struggling to find a decent home with sane rent amounts. #Bengaluru #koramangla #hsrlayout #bangaloreRents

It’s a huge flat in a ‘posh’ society. I have seen rents such as this at Mumbai Worli seaface , juhu beach area etc.
Didn’t know HSR layout was such a posh area— Sundar Krishnamachari (@Tksrajan) July 29, 2023
Everyone takes a 10 months of rent as deposit/advance that’s common. What not common, atleast for me is the 2.5 lakh per month rent 😅. Can deposit half of 25lakhs and own a flat and then pay the 2.5 as Emi and then rent it out😅😂

This is unfair and stinks of greed- the authorities should step in and make it a rule not more than 3 months rent

Except free advice and etheric opinions nothing comes for free in the real world.
The fact that you are looking for a 6000 sqft carpet area shows that you are loaded and belching .
Ten months advance with a monthly rental of 25k is a applied thumb rule in Karnataka.
