“I Started Taking Drugs Because I Couldn’t Talk To Women,” Sanjay Dutt On His Coke Addiction

Sanjay Dutt has seen stellar success in Bollywood, delivering cult classics like ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ and ‘Vaastav’. However, the actor has not been an ideal citizen when it comes to real life. He has served a prison sentence for the illegal possession of firearms and has battled drug addiction for a long time.

Sanjay Dutt, at a recent event, opened up about his life and made some startling revelations. He started off by talking about his addiction and said that he was already on drugs while his mother was battling cancer.

Today, when he thinks back to that incident, he is afraid to imagine what would have happened to his sisters had he been caught.

 

The actor went on to talk about his addiction to cocaine. There was an instance when he came home high, had alcohol and then went to bed. When he asked his servant to get him something to eat and his response shocked him.

To get off the cocaine high, he had to consume alcohol and this vicious cycle made him completely out of touch with the world.

 

He opened up about the reason he started taking drugs in the first place.

However, specifically addressing the youngsters, he said that being high on life is the best kind of high. He has gone through a rough period of substance abuse and would not want anyone else to face the same.

 

He also talked about being convicted for the illegal possession of firearms and said that the AK- 56 was given to him by a producer because he was fond of guns and hunting.

Later, his sister found the gun and asked him about it. The actor asked a friend to get rid of it but unfortunately, after doing the needful the friend went to jail.

 

Finally, Sanjay Dutt also opened up about his much-awaited biopic and how he was trying to avoid Ranbir Kapoor who is playing him in the film.

Ranbir Kapoor regularly called Sanjay Dutt in order to meet him however Sanjay seemed quite reluctant.

It’s brave of Sanjay Dutt to open up about such difficult times in his life. Drug addiction is a serious illness and treatment, rather than punishment, is the need of the hour.
