Ruskin Bond To Narrate His Stories On All India Radio For Listeners Amid Lockdown

Most of us have grown up reading the stories written by Ruskin Bond. The Indian author of British descent has over five hundred short stories, essays and novels to his credit. The acclaimed author who wrote one of his first short stories, ‘Untouchable’, at the age of sixteen in 1951, has till now written more than 50 books for children.

So, if you loved reading his novels and stories about his famous character Rusty, then here’s some good news for you. The Padma Bhushan awardee will be narrating some of his celebrated stories on All India Radio (AIR), reports Times Of India.

As part of Prasar Bharati’s special initiative to keep its listeners entertained, they have roped in the world-renowned essayist and novelist to read to you a series of his short stories, reported The Economic Times. The special program was kick-started yesterday.

Naming the new series as ‘Bonding Over The Radio’, AIR took to social media and announced this good news.

The special series intended to engage and cheer the listeners will initially run for 15 days and will feature stories exclusively handpicked for AIR. An AIR statement said:

“The series commenced from May 1 and will be available on Akashvani’s terrestrial as well as digital platforms.” 

The broadcasts will be available on Prasar Bharati’s mobile app ‘NewsOnAir’ as well as on three channels – FM Gold, Indraprastha and AIR Live News 24×7 daily at 7.10 am and 10.10 pm.
