Sudha Murty Says She Made Her Husband A Businessman, Her Daughter Made Her Husband PM Of The UK

Indians rejoiced when the United Kindom got its first Indian-origin Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak back in 2022. He scripted history by being the first person of colour to occupy this seat in the UK.

Interestingly, Rishi Sunak also reportedly took oath as MP from Yorkshire, on the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita in the Parliament.

After months of him leading the UK, we all know by now that he’s married to Indian fashion designer Akshata Murty. Akshata is also the daughter of the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murty, and the founder of Infosys, N. R. Narayana Murty. The couple got married in 2009 and have two daughters, Krishna and Anoushka.

While his mother-in-law, Sudha Murty is proud of his achievements, she also thinks that Akshata played a major role in making Rishi the PM of the UK. In a video that’s going viral online, Sudha is seen saying that it’s because of her daughter that Rishi became the youngest prime minister of the UK, reported NDTV.

“I made my husband a businessman. My daughter made her husband Prime Minister of the UK,” she can be seen saying in the video.

“The reason is the glory of the wife. See how a wife can change a husband. But I could not change my husband. I made my husband a businessman, and my daughter made her husband a Prime Minister,” she added.

According to his MIL, Rishi is very religious even though he and his ancestors have been living in the UK for decades now.

“Our son-in-law, who married our daughter, has been in England for 150 years from their ancestor’s time, but they are very religious. After getting married, he asked why you start anything on Thursday. They said that we will go to Raghavendra Swami. He fasts every Thursday after just saying good day. Our son-in-law’s mother fasts every Monday but our son-in-law fasts on Thursdays.”

Earlier this month when Sudha Murty was honoured with Padma Bhushan, like a good damaad, Rishi congratulated her. Sudha Murty reminds me of Indian moms who can’t stop boasting about how their daughters brought positive changes in the lives of their husbands.
