Lured By Guru Randhawa’s ‘Friend’, Teen Flees With Cash & Jewellery Days Before Wedding

A 19-year-old from Hamirpur, in Uttar Pradesh was recently the victim of an unfortunate cyber crime. Reports suggest that the teen was a major fan of Punjabi rapper and singer Guru Randhawa. She then fell in love with a man who claimed he was Randhawa’s friend.

It all began when she was retweeting all of the singer’s tweets. That was when a youth reached out to her on Twitter, masquerading as Randhawa’s pal. As things spiraled, she ran away from home with cash and jewellery worth Rs 50,000 only a fortnight before her wedding day.

She left a small note for her parents that read, “I am leaving the house”.

Her father lodged a complaint at Barsar police station after which, the police matched the writing on the note to the girl’s books in her room and authenticated it, informing them that she penned it. She has been missing since June 19 and her family has allegedly placed the blame for the issue on Randhawa.

The girl’s family suspects that the man who reached out to her might have enticed her with the prospect of helping her begin her a career in acting.
