A Vietnamese Couple Too Shy To Buy Condoms Uses Plastic Bags And Ends Up In Hospital

We all know the repercussions of not using protection, so we’ve trained ourselves to put safety first and not just ‘go with the flow’. But not all of us apparently…

Two Vietnamese youths have been admitted to a hospital in Hanoi, after they sustained injuries because they used a plastic bag instead of a condom!

The doctors confirmed that they have genital lesions, abrasions and bleeding. They even termed the use of plastic bags for protection as unscientific. Since the bags can easily tear, they don’t do a very good job of ‘protecting’ anything. In the couple’s case the plastic bag was too thick and caused scratches and vaginal tearing.

But the reason they used the plastic bags instead of condoms is more worrying: They were too shy to buy condoms.

Yeah, if we thought sex is considered a taboo subject in India, Vietnam is not far behind. If such incidents are rising because of a simple conventional outlook, then isn’t it time to broaden our horizons and talk about it freely?

I think it’s time for some sex education.
