I think every one of us is familiar with Parle-G biscuits and their yellow packets illustrated with the image of a grinning child. Eating them during my school lunch breaks still remains a fond childhood memory of mine. Now the brand is trending on social media for a very impressive and welcome move.
As per a report in Yahoo News, brands like Parle Products and Bajaj have decided not to advertise on news channels that are broadcasting ‘toxic aggressive content’. Moreover, media agencies and other key advertisers also declared that they are tracking and re-evaluating media spends on such TV news channels, as they have been accused of tampering with TRPs (Television Rating Points), rumor-mongering, and spreading hate.
Parle Products has decided not to advertise on news channels that broadcast toxic aggressive content.
These channels are not the kinds that the company wants to put money into as it does not favour its target consumer.

Industrialist Rajiv Bajaj, who is managing director of Bajaj Auto, also declared that his company has blacklisted 3 news channels for endorsing toxic content.
The move comes after the Mumbai Police unearthed a racket of TRP-fixing by some news broadcasters last week. The probe was earlier launched after a complaint was registered by a TV viewership measurement agency called Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).
Ever since the announcement was made, Desi Twitter users are lauding the brands’ move. Check out some of the reactions:
