Pak Teacher Writes An Angry Post After School Fires Him For Having A ‘Perfect Moustache’

Like it or hate it, but you simply can’t ignore moustaches. With the world indulging in 30 days for an exclusive beard and moustache festival and celebrities flashing their face lace in the most penchant way possible, we know the ‘mooch league’ is here to stay. But could you imagine losing your job because of your gorgeous stache? Well, something similar happened with this Pakistani teacher at least.

A Pakistani teacher named Haseeb Ali Chishti got sacked from the school he was working in for having a perfect moustache. All because the school believed his moustache was giving ‘liberal ideas’ to students.

And we thought the world was moving towards a saner end.

The teacher shared his heartfelt grievances with this brutally honest post on Facebook and showed another side of Pakistan’s education system.

Being told ‘your moustache gives liberal ideas to students’ and ‘you’re a young, handsome man… it will distract our girls and faculty’ is probably the funniest reason for being let go from a job but it is also a damning indictment of the mindset prevalent in the education sector in Pakistan. Increasingly I see schools imposing penalties against students for interacting with the opposite sex, I see school owners taking pride in their “conservative outlook” and shunning programs such as drama and dance for being “vulgar”.

The only thing wrong with a girl talking to a boy in school is the MINDSET that assumes this exchange must be immoral. I long for the day when we won’t have teachers and schools that think like Mohnish Behl back in the 90’s when he says ‘aik larka larki kabhi dost nahi hosaktay ‘ (a platonic friendship can’t exist between the opposite sex).

Soon enough, people on Facebook who were completely baffled with the incident started sharing Haseeb’s grievances.

1. Someone just spilled the truth

2. Shat, Pratishat!

3. True bro, true!

He currently runs an Arts and Theatre collective called Theatre Wallay who actively work towards ‘Theatre for Social Change’. He’s relentlessly working towards opening an Arts school for underprivileged students in Islamabad.

Sure, it was one of the most bizarre reasons I’ve heard so far for getting fired.
