Mumbai Scriptwriter Prints Fake Currency Notes Worth ₹5 Lakhs To Maintain Two Wives, Gets Arrested

Wandering around with fake currency in your wallet unknowingly is as good as walking around with a piece of paper – it has zero value! But printing fake notes to bluff the common man or bank can land you behind the bars.

A TV serial scriptwriter based in Mumbai was allegedly nabbed with a bag full of fake currency notes worth more than 5 lakhs by the police, reported Mid-day. Identified as Deokumar Patel, a resident of Nalasopara, was suspected of smuggling Indian currency notes said the Mumbai crime branch.

The officials said, “We found a bag with him which had Rs 5.78 lakh but all denominations were fake. We have sent the sample to Nashik laboratories.” They found bundles of fake currency notes of Rs 2000, Rs 500, Rs 200, and Rs 100 in his bag.

According to the police, Patel who has written the script of some TV shows took to fake money laundering in order to maintain his two wives, one is a model, other is a housewife. He had allegedly distributed these counterfeit currency in a rural area in Madhya Pradesh as it was easier to circulate fake notes there.

If you ever come across such fake currency notes at ATMs all you need to do is, hold the currency note clear to the CCTV camera and place a complaint with the guard as well the bank. Always check the currency before you exchange it with someone in the market, if you still get a fake one, deposit it in the nearest bank and do not forget to get a receipt.
