Technology is the way forward, you guys! Especially today when we are talking about robot citizens, smart cars and AI-powered (artificial intelligence) appliances like we do about daily chores. And believe me when I say this, there is hardly any escape from the new circuit-less/cloud computing world we have devised for ourselves!

And why would one bother to ‘abort mission’, after everything the one-click-automated lifestyle has given us? Call it smart living or living on the edge, we owe a lot to automation than we like to admit. In fact, I’m here to tell you about another game-changing advancement.

ICYMI, the Maharashtra government has announced its partnership with the Virgin Hyperloop where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has been signed for exploring the possibility of connecting Mumbai and Pune with hyperloop transportation system.

And if that didn’t make any sense to you (like yours truly at the first), allow me to break it down…

So basically, Mumbai-Pune commuters who bear more than just incorrigible traffic, coupled with long-hour hassles will finally be able to cut travel time by, let’s just say, A LOT.

And by that I mean, it would take just 13-14 minutes to travel between Mumbai and Pune, a journey that currently takes up to 3 hours by car!

That’s right, fellas! God has finally chosen to answer our prayers.

According to a Deccan Chronicle report, it could also streamline airport connectivity, such as connecting Pune’s new Purandar Airport to the city center or Navi Mumbai International Airport to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

If you’re wondering the how and why of it, CM Fadnavis has answers for you.

The brain-child of the visionary that is Elon Musk, Hyperloop is poised for travelling in pods through a sealed pipe at speeds that could touch 1,200km per hr, making it faster than a jet aircraft because of a frictionless environment.

In fact, he is even ambitious that the route has the potential to become the most viable option.

“By reducing travel time to under 20 minutes, a hyperloop route will help intensify the connectivity between the metropolitan regions of Pune and Mumbai, transforming the two cities into India’s first and largest Megapolis.”

You’d be surprised, a Bengaluru-Chennai hyperloop is also in the pipes. While the current disposition takes around six hours to drive the 350km between the two cities, the proposed hyperloop could cut it down to just 20 mins.

And although it is a preliminary study, this right here could change everything for us. How’s that for ‘the future is here’, ha?
