Even though this year has brought despair to a lot of us, it has brought good moments too for some, especially in the marriage department. From wearing masks to finding love again, weddings are definitely evolving into the new normal.
As per a report in TOI, a 53-year-old widow and her 27-year old daughter got married at the same mass marriage event at Piprouli Block in Gorakhpur. At the event, 63 other couples tied the nuptial knot.
The woman Beli Devi’s husband Harihar had died 25 years ago. At the ceremony, she has now married her husband’s younger brother Jagdish aged 55.
Beli Devi exclaimed, “Jagdish, a farmer, is still unmarried. My two sons and two daughters are already married. With the wedding of my youngest daughter, I decided to marry my devar (brother-in-law). All my children are happy.”
Her daughter Indu, on the other hand, got married to 29-year-old Rahul. She said, “None of my siblings have any problem with our mother’s wedding. My mother and uncle took care of us and I am very happy that now they will look after each other.”
We wish them all a lifetime of happiness!
