12 Simple Morning Rituals That Will Make 2017 Better For You

New Year resolutions are broken more than promises.

They are hard to follow throughout the year too.

But there are some things you can do in the first couple of hours of your day that can have an impact on your entire day, and by extension, your entire year.

And what better time to start them than the start of the year!

1. Get courageous for 20 seconds every morning because in the morning you have max willpower

No more hitting the snooze button. Wake up early. Seize the day!

Put up the “Seize the day” poster right in front of your bed.

 

2. Don’t grab your phone right away. Spend some time with yourself

We have a tendency to check our phone as soon as we wake up. Don’t.

It’s tremendously enlightening to spend some time in our own thoughts. We get to know ourselves better.

 

3. Make your bed. Don’t be a lazy fuck

You will be glad to see your place in a good state after you come home exhausted from work. There is a reason why making beds are so important in the armed forces – because it gives you a sense of small accomplishment right at the beginning of your day.

One small task done. Now you are ready for the other small tasks like this.

 

4. Be grateful for all you have got in your life. Say thank you mentally. Don’t be an entitled millennial.

Some people in this world would kill to have what you have in your life. Thank your stars for being so fortunate.

 

5. Drink a glass full of warm water right after you wake up. Makes you poop better.

Really, a good poop session in the morning always feels better than a constipated morning.

 

6. Weigh yourself every morning – note that shit down!

Even if it is shameful or embarrassing, note your weight down. Keep a record. If you want to make progress, you have to track your progress.

 

7. It may sound cliched – but exercise! Put on a peppy song and work out to it.

Mix up cardio and strength training. Take the 30-day abs challenge or whatever new fad that’s trending nowadays. Just exercise.

It takes less than 30 minutes and keeps you away from dementia and heart disease.

 

8. Put honey instead of sugar in your tea or coffee

Put honey instead of sugar everywhere for the whole day. It’s natural and a better form of sugar.

 

9. Don’t watch TV. That shit’s toxic early in the morning.

Worse – don’t watch the news. It will give you anxiety too early in the day. It’s surprising how TV can influence your brain. Ditto for the Internet on your smartphone.

Early morning is the time to relax, and not get neurotic.

 

10. Eat a full breakfast that is not fatty – or it will just make you a dull bitch for the rest of the day. Eat it with your family or friends.

A fatty breakfast will make you drowsy. Eat oats, idlis, poha, or just plain roti sabzi. Eat your belly full.

11. Simplify. Just like Mark Zuckerberg

We tend to complicate our lives to the point that small decisions can stall us for an hour! That’s why simplify your life. Mark Zuckerberg only wears one type of clothes because it is one less decision to make.

That’s just clothes, you can simplify your life even further.

 

12. Get out of your house with an open mind – an open mind to changes.

Don’t be closeted. Open your mind up to any kind of possibilities. It keeps you aware of opportunities you would not see on a normal day. It keeps you ready for any lows you would face during the day too.

Seize the year, people! Let’s stop cribbing and actually make the changes we wish to see in our lives.
