Mothers can be darlings when it comes to making their kids happy. But sometimes they can go far and beyond thinking that it’s helping their kids in more ways than one. However, it is not every time that they’re able to read our minds, which can lead to a disaster of sorts like this one.
According to Mirror Online, a mother, desperate to get her daughter married to a man, decided to pay him. Yes, as awful as it sounds, she did pay for all their dates and even the engagement ring with which he proposed to her.

Sharing the ordeal, the anonymous bride revealed that after only two months of dating, her boyfriend proposed to her with a huge, blingy stone that immediately wowed her.
“It was all so fast and I was head over heels, so when he proposed with a massive diamond, I just went for it and said yes. I had nothing to lose,” she said.
She further added that he even insisted they got married ASAP reasoning that both of them were too much in love. Obviously, her mother was overjoyed to know about this news. However, the bride smelled something fishy when her mom volunteered to pay for their big fat wedding.
“My mom bought me the most gorgeous dress (super expensive) and my parents paid for the whole thing. I always asked him why his parents wouldn’t pay, but my parents would butt in and say they insisted, and he claimed his family was poor.”
While she was convinced with this excuse, the huge engagement ring still made her question the rush. Hence, she decided to investigate the matter.
“I got my hands on the store he bought the ring from through some careful snooping and went into the store where he bought it to see if it was real (it was!!!).”
She further revealed, “The man at the store said it was one-of-a-kind and he remembered it being bought. Apparently, my fiancé didn’t buy it, my mother did. She bought it a month before my fiancé and I started dating,” she exclaimed.
This investigation clarified that her mother set her up with the guy.
“She met him through a friend and paid him to go out on our first date (to a five-star restaurant). She paid for all of our dates and, of course, my wedding because she was so desperate for me to get married and he was just in it for the money,” the woman said.
She assumes that her mom churned all this up because she’d recently come out as bisexual.
“I had come out as bisexual about a year before all of this. I wonder if it was because she was so desperate to see me with a man and not a woman,” she said, adding that she’s now dating a woman and her mother and she no longer speak.
