Celebs Were Served Cold Soup & A Piece Of Salmon After Paying ₹41 Lakhs For Met Gala Tickets

Every year, the most elite celebs around the globe plan and eagerly wait to walk on the coveted Met Gala red carpet in their finest costumes. And like each year, this year’s gala also had a theme. It was ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ dedicated to the late Chanel designer.

Shockingly, to attend the fundraising event this year, celebs had to pay a whopping $50,000 (Rs 41,12,975) per person.

With that amount of money, I would expect the organizers to attend to me like a princess with a personal assistant, a butler and a six-course meal. But since it’s the world’s most prestigious fashion event, we can have some exceptions.

One would think that they can redeem that money by having a blast at the after-party and stuffing themselves with great food and booze. But, that wasn’t the case here. In fact, the food that was served at the gala was meant to starve celebrities, said people online.

Going in sync with the theme, the caterer of the event, Olivier Cheng, decided to take inspiration from the wedding reception Karl had hosted for fashion designer Paloma Picasso and Rafael Lopez-Sanchez in 1978, said Vogue.

Recreating that evening at the Met, the tables were decked with French linen napkins, varnished hand-painted candelabras, and bouquets of pink blooms including Red Command and Coral Charm peonies.

As for the food, the elite guests were served chilled spring pea soup with baby vegetables, lemon crème fraîche, and truffle snow, to start with.

This was followed by Ōra King salmon with vegetable nage, asparagus, pickled strawberries, and radish, all of which were served on vintage china.

Talking about the food, Olivier Cheng told Vogue, “This menu was designed to honour the late fashion icon and pay homage to his favourite foods and global palate.”

He added, “These dishes were created to maintain seasonality while using some of his favourite ingredients, such as King salmon. There is a sophisticated elegance to these pairings, one we feel that he would have truly enjoyed.”

Alongside the food, the guests were served wine and Diet Coke which was Lagerfeld’s favourite drink.

Twitter wasn’t happy on seeing what was served to the celebs when they paid so much to arrive at the event.

American singer Teyana Taylor probably saw this coming, hence, she brought Chick-Fil-A to eat at the Met table. People think she’s the smartest.

After going through so much pressure, starving myself to get in that dress and the anxiety to pass through the carpet without breaking down, I would really become han-gry if I would see only a cup of soup and a piece of fish served to me. What do you think?
