Man Poses As A Pilot To Get Special Treatment & Skip Queues At Delhi Airport, Gets Nabbed

People are fond of a number of unusual things in life and often have quirky habits. While some hold world records in suing people and filing lawsuits for tiniest things possible, a few others who fail to clear civil services exams begin to pose as an IAS officer for fun.

One such bizarre incident has come forward in the national capital when a 48-year-old man was caught posing as a Lufthansa Airlines pilot at Delhi airport. Rajan Mahbubani, a resident of Vasant Kunj, impersonated a pilot to escape long queues and security check at the airport, reports HT.

He was nabbed at the departure gate of Indira Gandhi International Airport while he was boarding an Air Asia flight to Kolkata. The CISF caught hold of him after information about “suspected passenger in the getup of a captain of Lufthansa airlines” was provided by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the German airlines.

“He was in possession of a fake ID card of Lufthansa Airlines captain, and he used it to get privilege at airports,” a senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer told News 18.

The man was handed over to Delhi police. Mahbubani admitted that he is fond of wearing uniforms from different professions and enjoyed getting snapped in different poses.

“Mahbubani disclosed that he used to shoot YouTube videos on aviation and had obtained the Lufthansa fake ID card in Bangkok,” the officer added. On further investigation, cops also found several pictures and TikTok videos of Mahbubani where he is seen posing as police and army officer.

“During interrogation, Mahbubani said that he is a frequent traveler and used to impersonate as a pilot of international airlines to gain easy access during security clearance and have preferential treatment from security agencies and airlines,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Sanjay Bhatia said.

Apart from using his fake pilot ID to skip queues and security checks at the airport, the man would get preferential treatment from airlines using the same.

This looks like a scene straight outta a Bollywood movie. We wonder if he was inspired by Bunty Aur Babli! Anyways, we are relieved that he did not enter the cockpit and say, “Aaj plane tera bhai udaega!”
