A shocking incident from India’s Navi Mumbai has come to light. The local cops held a 32-year-old mechanical engineer accused of sexually assaulting at least 12 women. As per reports, Gupta made multiple fake profiles on matrimonial sites to attract “highly educated women”. After connecting with them, he used to contact them on their mobile phones and fix a meeting at a pub, restaurant, or mall. It is during these meetings that he sexually molested these women.

“The accused used a different mobile number for every crime. He changed his SIM every time. Even to book cab rides using Ola or Uber, he would use different SIM cards and not the phone number registered in his name. He worked as a hacker some time ago and has good knowledge of computers. But he was using it in the wrong place,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Suresh Mengade.

The cops finally arrested Gupta from Mumbai’s Malad area after looking for him for nearly four months.

“Until now, we have information that he committed this crime against 12 women but there seem to be many more. The accused was produced before the court and has been remanded to four days of police custody,” stated DCP Mengade.

With the internet taking over our lives, cyber crimes have increased manifold. The best thing to do to be safe is to never let your guard down.
