Quarrels between husband and wife can sometimes turn violent in toxic relationships. One such case of a couple from Gujarat who has been married for 12 years now has come to light recently when the wife approached police with her dilemma.
The couple tied the knot in 2008 in Gujarat and moved to Pune for work. The trouble in paradise began soon after their wedding owing to the short-tempered nature of the husband, reports Pune Mirror. He would often allegedly hurl abuses at his wife and beat her during an argument.
Following repeated instances of assualt, the woman claimed that she left her husband and moved back to her parents’ home. She lived with them for six months until one day, her husband turned up at their place to apologize for his aggressive behavior. He somehow managed to convince his wife and her parents to return back with him. He had reportedly promised them that he would not abuse or assault their daughter again.
But the wife claimed that her husband failed to keep his promise and ended up misbehaving with her just days after they returned home. He would allegedly complain about not liking the woman’s looks and her financial dependence on him. After their daughter’s birth in 2009, the couple’s problems persisted.
Recently, the woman who works as a small-time music composer asked for money from her husband who works in an IT firm in the city. Upset with this, the man abused her and compared her to former adult film star Sunny Leone saying that ‘she atleast makes money by selling her body unlike his wife who even could not do that’.
The husband has been charged under sections 498 (enticing or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a married woman) 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
