Couple Welcomes 10,000 Guests At Their Wedding In A ‘Covid-Secure Way’, See Pics

From strict advisories to funny masks, the coronavirus pandemic has changed the face of weddings worldwide. While most of us have resorted to small intimate affairs and Zoom weddings, there are people who are working their way around Covid-19 restrictions and how.

A Malaysian couple managed to invite 10,000 people to their marriage, at a time when the country’s coronavirus restrictions limit the wedding guest list to 20 people only. Read on to know how they did it.

They turned their wedding into a drive-through event, wherein the newlyweds sat outside a government building in Putrajaya and the guests drove past them slowly in their cars and gave them a physically-distanced wave.

The guests were treated to a pre-packed wedding feast which they collected from their windows and drove on. It took a total of 3 hours for all the 10,000 guests to pass by.

The groom Tengku Muhammed Hafiz is the son of an influential Malaysian politician and former cabinet member named Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

The proud father wrote on Facebook, “I am informed that there are more than 10,000 cars here since this morning. Me and my family are very honored. Thank you all for understanding and adhering to all procedures made by drive-thru attendance without getting out of the car.”

He added, “My family and I are very grateful and appreciate all your support.”

Incidentally, the wedding took place just 1 day before the groom’s father was found guilty in a corruption case. He is not only sentenced to a fine, but also a year in prison.

As of now, Malaysia has reported over 95,327 confirmed COVID-19 cases, as it is battling a new wave of the virus.
