Malaika Arora Khan is a popular name in showbiz. Be it her sartorial fashion choices, or her stint as reality show judge, Malaika is a TV personality with distinct poise. But unfortunately, it is often her personal life that grabs the headlines instead and how! Especially after her much-talked about split with now ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan.

Remember the time when an Instagram user shamed her and called her a ‘shit woman‘ for living off the money that she apparently got in alimony? Yes, Malaika did put her foot down that time and gave the troll a piece of her mind, but it is safe to say that her silence post-separation, has been misconstrued for her weakness.

But not anymore!

In an exclusive tell-all interview to Mid-day, Malaika has finally opened up about her life after the end of her 18-year-long marriage and how it has changed.

“It has changed a lot. But except with a few friends, I don’t discuss my life. My sister often asks me: Does your shadow know what you are doing? But that’s me.

Earlier, I would push issues away. Only now have I begun to confront them. After a very long time, I can say that I feel peaceful.”

When asked if, by internal conflicts, she means her separation from Arbaaz, Malika said,

The diva was also asked if the split was hard for her and she was all heart about it.

“Yes, of course. Arbaaz and I have known each other all our lives. It was emotionally difficult, but we haven’t really talked about it because we are private individuals. He is very important to me. No matter what happens or where life takes us, Arbaaz will always be integral to my life.”

Talking about her relationship with Arbaaz now, Malaika insists that some things ‘don’t change overnight.’

In fact, she also reasoned why they are often spotted together.

“[Meeting Arbaaz Khan] makes my son happy, and that makes me happy. For Amu [sister Amrita Arora Ladak], he’s like a brother, and he is a son to my parents. What happened is between us.”

It takes time and effort to build a relationship but it takes, even more, to get out of one.
