Nestle Is Paying Rs.20 Crore To Ambuja Cement For Destroying Stocks Of Our Beloved Maggi

Maggi is no longer available in the market. As all of us know why. It was FSSAI (Food Safety and Standard Authority of India) who banned Maggi on June 5, 2015. Nestle was directed to remove the whole stock of Maggi from the market. Following that, Maggi will be destroyed completely.

Ambuja Cement has been paid a sum of Rs 20 Crore to destroy the whole stock of Maggi.

Yes, Ambuja cement has been paid a whopping amount of money to destroy Maggi stock after it was deemed unhealthy and unfit for consumption because of the presence of excess lead. “Gujarat Ambuja Cements is… helping us to destroy the Maggi noodles being withdrawn by us from the market,” said a Nestle India spokesperson.

The costs involved for destroying Maggi will be according to the applicable accounting standards.

Nestle India spokesperson said, “In addition to the value of stocks being destroyed there will be additional costs to take into account, for example bringing back stock from the market, transporting the stock to the destruction points and destruction cost etc.” The whole Maggi stock is worth Rs 320 Crore and it will be destroyed.

Let’s bid adieu to Maggi for now and let’s just hope that it returns soon, irrespective of the amount of lead.

I'll be back
