Mutton Biryani Distributed As Prasad In Madurai Temple As A Part Of Mega Fest

Biryani is not just food but a religion for all the foodies. And free food is nothing less than a blessing for such food junkies. But what if the free food is Mutton Biryani? It’s certainly a cherry on the cake, isn’t it? This dream came true for some foodoholics at Madurai when mutton biryani was served as prasad at Muniyandi temple festival, recently.

More than 8,000 local people took part in the traditional temple-festival. Hoteliers across the city organize the festival, reported TOI.

The businessmen gather together to worship the local deity, named Muniyandi. The decades-old tradition began in 1937 when a resident of Vadakampatti village in Madurai district started a successful hotel and began the grand feast to thank their diety for the success.

TOI report also mentioned that there are more than 1,500 Muniyandi Vilas hotels in South India with their franchise growing rapidly to other parts of the country as well. Many people from the village have started their own hotels and assure to offer best non-vegetarian food to their customers ever since.
