Importance of trees and their dire need in the world right now needs no introduction.  Everyone is aware of how our planet is facing severe environmental issues like global warming and climate change. There are very few potential solutions that will help us curb the devastating climate change and planting trees is one of them.

Accordingly many schools, colleges have made planting saplings compulsory, the government is also taking steps to compel people to plant trees. Moreover, common man too is participating actively in saving trees and planting more of them all over the country.

But, seems like people from Kochi, Kerala have different plans! Tired of bird poop on their vehicles, regular commuters at the Aluva railway station have urged the authorities to cut down trees in the parking of the station. The commuters said that they spend nearly 20-30 minutes to clean their cars and motorcycles every day.

“I have approached officials many times regarding the issue. I have to spend around 20 minutes to clean my vehicle each time I park here,” a commuter said, reports India Today.

The railway authorities have admitted that bird poop on vehicles is a major problem in the parking lots but they are facing difficulties in taking permission for cutting down the trees.

A railway official was quoted saying, “We were not too keen on “disturbing the ecosystem”. However, there is no other alternative present. The trees in the parking lot where preventing optimum utilization. The tree cover has reduced a 3,000 sqft area of land to a 1,500 sqft parking lot.”

How about using bike and car covers on your vehicles, guys? Can you suggest more alternative solutions for Kochi residents other than cutting down the trees in the parking lot?
