KL Rahul’s trailblazing knock of 94 runs of just 60 balls went in vain as the Mumbai Indians held their nerves to see off Kings XI Punjab in a nail-biting last over. The stylish opening batsman, who was roped in at a staggering 11 crores by the Preity Zinta owned franchise, has been returning the favour in magnificent style this season. With 652 runs to his name already, Rahul sits at the top of the leading runs scorer chart in the 11th edition of the lucrative league.
However, the Karnataka batsman gave us a surprise at the Wankhede Stadium after his team’s hopes of qualifying to the playoffs took a severe blow at the hands of the defending champions.
A dejected KL Rahul, who was given the orange cap and also the Stylish Player of the Match Award was seen throwing his trophy to the crowd.

The disappointment of losing the crunch match could be seen clearly on the player’s face, but what he did has earned mixed reactions. While a share of fans hailed him for his heart of gold the others lashed out at him for disrespecting the trophy.
