Life used to be so much simpler when we were kids.
When did it get so complicated?
Have we actually sat down and thought why our life as adults becomes so complex? Can we behave like kids even in our adulthood and make a difference in our lives? Make it better – simpler?
Yes, we can. It doesn’t mean you start acting like kids and shrug off all your responsibilities. But you can do a few things you did as kids that can make your life today more eventful and fulfilling.
1. Talk to our parents about our day, every day.
Remember when we used to sit down with our parents and talk to them about everything that happened in the school, and how some of our friends were very nice and how Maths sucked?
That talking was therepeutic. We struggle to find people who would listen to us today. Little do we realize we have two people back at home who itch to listen to us.
2. Go out and play sports, or just go out and play
Do you recall one day when you didn’t go out to play when you were a kid? Even if there was nothing to do, you would still go out with your friends and do stuff.
Nobody does stuff outside their homes after work anymore. Go out and hang out. Do stuff.
3. Be so active from dawn to dusk that you just fall dead asleep at night
Sleeplessness is the norm today. There is so much stress and worry we take to our beds. When we were kids, we didn’t even have a time to get into the bed and fall asleep. The sleep came because we kept ourselves busy all day long.
4. Eat Homecooked food and not junk from outside
Ghar ka khaana is the reason we grew up healthy during our time at home. And look what junk food gave you as soon as you became “responsible adults”.
5. Get dirty after a day of hectic schedule
No one likes to get messy and play after a tiring day. School was tiring, but we still played. And those football matches in the mud is the reason you have such great immune systems now.
6. Be curious about everything
“What does that mean?”
“How does that work?”
Somewhere down the line we stop being curious and enthusiastic about learning. Do not stop being curious.
Keep asking questions. Keep learning like a child.
7. Do not be angry at a person and makeup with them the next day
We didn’t really worry about how the other person felt after we were in a fight. Because we knew that it would automatically okay tomorrow. People hold grudges for years now.
Childhood was simpler because our egos weren’t that developed.
8. Wonder at new things, be excited about learning
There are new breakthroughs and inventions today too. The only thing missing is the wonder. We need to wonder more, even if the wondering is absurd – just like when we were kids.
9. Read comic books and books instead of watching TV serials
Comic books and books used to stimulate our brains and made us imagine and think – unlike watching TV series on our laptop.
Keep reading to keep your brain young and imaginative.
10. Go and draw things everywhere
Remember the time when we used to draw just because we were bored. Drawing and doodling is a great way of expressing ourselves.
It is not too late to start behaving like kids – especially if it makes your life happier!
