10 YO Boy Complains About Cycle Repair Delay, Kerala Police Helps Him Out

Besides catching criminals and cracking big cases, cops also help out students in need. Whether it is creating child-friendly corners at police stations, teaching them about emergency helplines or giving them a ride to school amidst a van/auto-rickshaw strike, they continually go above and beyond the call of duty and earn our respect.

According to The Indian Express, Kerala cops recently came to the rescue of 10-year-old Abin, a class V student of Elampilad UP School in Kozhikode. On September 5, Abin and his brother gave their cycles for repair but the shop didn’t return them for over 2 months. So, he wrote a complaint to the Meppayur police station.

Hindustan Times reports that the complaint was written on November 25 in Malayalam and included the following details,

“They had taken an advance of Rs 200. And whenever we called to inquire, they either didn’t pick up or told us they will repair soon. The shop was closed most of the time when we went to inquire.”

Beat officer Radhika NP took up the complaint and contacted the owner. He cited a brief illness and his son’s wedding as the reasons for the delay and assured the cop that the work will be done by November 28. Sure enough, the brothers have received their fixed cycles.
