70 Lakh People Joined Hands To Form 620 Km Human-Chain In Kerala To Protest Against CAA

The Citizenship Amendment Act has received severe backlash and resistance from a significant number of people in the country. The CAA has been branded as “undemocratic” and “discriminatory” by many. People of all ages have joined hands to protest against the act and have made clear that their collective voice isn’t going to die anytime soon.

Setting a record-breaking protest, 70 lakh people came together and joined hands to form a 620km human-chain demanding the withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act in Kerala on Republic Day, reports TOI. The human-chain began from Kasaragod in North Kerala to Kaliyakkavilai in the south.

The chain was joined by the Chief Minister of the state, Pinarayi Vijayan. Children, priests, nuns, businessmen, activists, social workers, etc. stood side by side pledging to protect the country’s ‘democratic’ status.

According to a report by The Indian Express, several mosques joined the Republic Day celebration for the first time by hoisting the tricolour and reading out the Preamble of the Constitution. Newly-weds were also spotted in the human chain.
