It’s not wrong to say that the discussions on the concepts of consent and harassment have increased off late. With the onset of the #MeToo campaign with real men and women sharing their stories, it isn’t a stretch to say that people are not only becoming more woke about these issues, but are also becoming more vocal.
Last month during a Facebook live, singer Papon kissed a minor girl who was a contestant on the reality show ‘Voice of India Kids’. And after the video came to light, an FIR was filed against him by a Supreme Court advocate.
Another incident has come to light where world-renowned pop sensation, Katy Perry kissed a teenage boy on the sets of a reality show, ‘American Idol’. The contestant’s name is Benjamin Glaze and Perry was the singing show’s judge.
Right before the audition the 19-year-old boy from Oklahoma chatted with the panel about his job as a cashier which he said allowed him to meet a lot of “cute girls.”
This is when another judge Luke Bryan then asked Glaze if he’d ever “kissed a girl and liked it”, which was a reference to Perry’s hit single I Kissed A Girl. Glaze responded saying that he’s never been in a relationship and he can’t kiss a girl without being in one.
After hearing this, Perry called him over to her and after letting him kiss her on the cheek, she almost tricks him and kisses him on his mouth. Then a very triumphant Katy raises her hands at a job ‘well’ done.
While speaking to The New York Times, Glaze, talking about the episode said, “I was a tad bit uncomfortable. I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special.”

The incident didn’t go down well with netizens too and people have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions.
1. Exactly.
Imagine if a 33 year-old male artist tricked a 19 year-old female auditioner into a kiss like Katy Perry just did with that teenage guy. Would we all think it was cute? #AmericanIdol

4. Some people themselves felt uncomfortable after seeing the kiss.

5. People are urging others to see both sides.
If you're ok with @katyperry using her position of power to steal a non consensual kiss on the lips from a male contestant but not ok with men abusing their position then YOU'RE 👏 PART 👏 OF 👏 THE 👏 PROBLEM #AmericanIdol

6. Think if the tables were turned.
So Katy Perry tricks a young boy to kiss her on her cheek and then turn her face to make it a lip kiss. Imagine the outrage if it was an old man doing this to a young girl. https://t.co/729BVRZqxB
