200 Bachelors In Karnataka Decide To Walk 105 Kms To Seek God’s Blessing In Finding Wives

Mandya, a district in Karnakata, has a history of female foeticide. As a result, the male-to-female ratio of this place is disproportionate. Filled with men involved in agricultural activities, Mandya has a shortage of brides for eligible bachelors, reports Times Now.

Several men above the age of 30 in Mandya are unable to get married because of the lack of women. Hence, 200 bachelors decided to go on a journey called ‘Brahmacharigala Padayatre’ or bachelor’s march which is 105 km long to seek god’s blessing in helping them find suitable wives.

Most of the participants in this journey are farmers and field workers. The march is set to take place on February 23 from Mandya to the famous MM Hills temple in the neighbouring Chamarajanagar district.

The organisers of this march revealed that as many as 100 men registered for this within 10 days of the announcement being made. A lot of participants are also from Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Shivamogga district besides Mandya. The journey is supposed to be covered over 3 days.

“For the past four to five years, I have been searching for a suitable girl to marry. I have met girls whose proposals came to us for marriage. They (girls) say they will only marry boys from the city. Nobody wants to marry their daughter to a farmer or an agriculturist like me,” a guy named Mallesh told News18.
