Kangana Asks For Every Woman’s Dignity After Getting Slut-Shamed, What About Swara, Urmila?

Kangana Ranaut, a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, has garnered attention not only for her acting prowess but also for her outspoken nature. Unfortunately, her outspokenness has often veered into the realm of demeaning other women, including fellow celebrities. One notable instance was her public spat with Deepika Padukone, where Kangana took direct digs at Padukone for her stance on mental health and depression and accused her of drug usage.

Moreover, Kangana Ranaut has been known to target other actresses like Swara Bhasker and Taapsee Pannu with derogatory remarks. In various interviews and social media interactions, she has belittled their talents by calling them “B-grade actresses”. She went a bit too far when she called Urmila Matondkar a “soft porn star” and questioned her integrity as a professional.

Instead of fostering solidarity among women in the entertainment industry, Kangana’s actions have perpetuated a culture of nasty competition and division, overshadowing the achievements and struggles of her fellow actresses.

Recently, Kangana Ranaut was announced as a Lok Sabha candidate representing BJP for Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi and that she will be participating in the upcoming elections. However, Congress’s social media in-charge Supriya Shrinate took to social media to character-assassinate Ranaut and indirectly compare her to a sex worker.

Sharing a picture of Kangana, she wrote, “Kya bhaav chal raha hai Mandi mein koi batayega? (Will someone tell what are the rates in Mandi?)”

Her post has now been deleted.

Sharing the above screenshot, Kangana responded to Supriya Shrinate and said that “we must rise above the curiosity” about a woman’s “body parts” and that “we must refrain from using sex workers’ challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur” because “every woman deserves her dignity”.

“Dear Supriya ji In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii. We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudices, we must rise above the curiosity about their body parts and above all we must refrain from using sex workers’ challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur… every woman deserves her dignity,” she wrote.

However, several people online reminded her of her slurs against Deepika, Taapsee, Swara and Urmila.
