Being every father ever, poet, lyricist and screenwriter, Javed Akhtar posted a Tweet gushing over his daughter’s latest achievement. Zoya Akhtar was recently invited to be a member of the Oscar academy in the director’s category and her father cannot contain his excitement.
I am sure that fellow Indians will be happy and proud to know that my daughter Zoya Akhtar who is a well known writer- director has been offered the membership of Oscar academy which is rare honour .

The Academy that hosts it’s annual Academy Awards AKA the Oscars has invited members from 59 countries and half of them are women. Among the 842, 21, there were other Indian artists too who were invited to be a part of the Academy.
Director Anurag Kashyap has been invited in the Short Films and Feature Animation category while veteran actor Anupam Kher was invited in the Actor’s category for his extensive career in acting.

According to The Hindu, Lunchbox writer-director Ritesh Batra is also a part of the new invitees’ list, so are Indian origin actor Archie Punjabi and Late Night director Nisha Ganatra. In the Visual Effects department, Sherry Bharda of Hichki fame and Srinivas Mohan, best known for his work on 2.0 and Baahubali: The Beginning, have been invited.
