‘Hip Hip Hurray’ Cast Celebrated 20 Years Of The Iconic Show With A Nostalgic Video For Fans!

Ask any 90s kid and they’ll tell you, television back then was a glorious, glorious thing! Ironically, the TV shows back then were far more progressive than the crap that we get to watch now. At a time when the heroine turning into a fly or a plastic surgery would probably be more believable, we had shows that dealt with real social issues, had powerful writing and were way ahead of their time (Tara, Banegi Apni Baat, Swabhimaan, Shanti, Just Mohabbat and many more). And one of them was Hip Hip Hurray!

The show, which graced out TV screens for the first time 20 years ago, was about Class 12 students of DeNobili High School, and chronicled their relationships, dreams, adventures, and other coming of age issues.

The show, created and directed by Nupur Asthana, gave lots of popular names in television and Bollywood their first break! Purab Kohli, Vishal Malhotra, Shweta Salve, Peeya Rai Chowdhury, Rushad Rana, Nauheed Cyrusi, Kishwer Merchant, Suchitra Pillai and Vinay Pathak are just some of the many recognisable faces from the show whose careers got a major boost after Hip Hip Hurray.

The show gave us 90s kids our first crushes (Purab and Vishal for me!), our favourite teachers (Suchitra Pillai as Alaknanda Ma’am and Vinay Pathak as Vinnie Sir!) and also dealt with issues like relationships, drugs, careers, academic pressure and so on. Truly, a remarkable portrayal of what teen life really is.

This year, as the cult favourite completed 20 years, the cast of the show compiled a special video message for their fans! And you can bet it is an emotional walk down memory lane!

Whoa! That was a heavy dose of nostalgia alright!
