Hindi.
Despite being our national language and for a lot of people, their mother tongue, it has slowly but surely lost its importance. English took over, made it easier for us to connect with the world, it was a practical thing to adopt English as our primary language of communication.
Yet, here we are, feeling the vestigial pangs of calling our mother ‘ma‘ instead of mom and ‘didi‘ to an older sister, ‘behna‘ to a younger one reminding ourselves the beauty of it. Whereas, the English language didn’t give you the ‘sanskaar‘ of distinguishing nouns according to age.
