When you are travelling to a place whose economy majorly depends upon tourism, it is kind of a given that the various modes of transport, especially cabs, will be a little expensive for tourists. But to blame and foulmouth the destination, comparing it to other metropolitan cities, can attract strong criticism from locals and people in general. And that is exactly what happened to one person online.
A guy named Shivam Vahia who recently visited Goa took to Twitter to share how he was charged Rs 1200 for a cab ride from Vagator to Mopa Airport. However, he went on to use very strong language against Goa and its locals.
In case you are wondering, Vagator to Mopa Airport covers a good 27 kms.
Paying ₹1200 for a cab from Vagator to Mopa Airport.
Goans are assholes when it comes to this. They want to do no hard work, cry that outsiders have spoiled their calm, and at the same time endorse a mafia.
Your economy works on tourism. Don't shit on the plate that feeds you.

Not allowing Uber/Ola to operate is against the fundamental understanding of a market.
The day is not far away when Goa will ask for a entry fee. A quasi visa of sorts.
State police cannot handle this menace. Delhi needs to send reinforcements to ensure reforms happen.

This didn’t go down well with several people online who slammed him for generalising the locals of Goa and asked him to stay away from the destination if it doesn’t pleases him. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:
For context: Vagator to Mopa is 28 KMs.
In Mumbai, BKC to Airport is 3.6 Kms and yet we pay the same ₹1200. (without crying about it on twitter)
Moral of the story: Don’t come to Goa if you can’t afford, mumbaikar f*drecha. https://t.co/V9qL1H0su9 pic.twitter.com/vdmVW7mLaH

If Goans are assholes, please stay away from Goa. We would rather have tourists who don't shit on us for things that are out of our hands and call us assholes. https://t.co/ttmngk95Tj

Calling Goans assholes, and saying that they want to do no hard work, JUST BECAUSE YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO VACATION THE WAY YOU IMAGINED, is peak ASSHOLE behaviour. Honestly, Goa is better off without such “tourists” 🤦🏻♂️ https://t.co/4YwCuiVJbI

Seeing lot of tweets by Indian tourists (mostly from Mumbai/Delhi) shitting on Goa's cab prices. One thing you guys need to understand is Goa is not just a big resort meant only for your pleasure and vacations. It is also a home to around 15 lakh Goans. https://t.co/HXFMUYYR9G

paying 1200 for this is actually very normal and not at all exorbitantly priced. and hot take but tourism is not an industry that calls for subsidies. uber/ola make sense in metro cities. not in a beach town where you go to have a slow leisure vacation. https://t.co/H9St99iTzu pic.twitter.com/AtAuu0E8WT

I hope he never has to take a cab from BLR airport to the city. 🙂 https://t.co/hmTInak22j

Hey Tier 1 tourist. Please stay away from our home if you think we're assholes!
And stop stereotyping allof us. I could do exactly the same. It won't be pleasant.
Some things aren't in our control and we oppose it. So don't come here and then shit on us. Go else where. Thanks! https://t.co/jAQGOeqqoC— Sullivan Noronha (@NoronhaSullivan) June 30, 2023
Goans must continue to charge exorbitant rates for Taxis and Hotels. 👍🏽
Entitled 🍑holes willingly pay ₹600 for a coffee at Starbucks but won’t pay the same to a Taxi driver working hard for nation building. https://t.co/jnKMEw1qqF— Alok Shinde (@alokshinde) June 30, 2023
How dare do locals charge tourists and earn a living from it? Do the local Goans not know these tourists are entitled and they should be treated like royalty inspite of how the tourists behave when in their state? Pathetic. https://t.co/oKTtT7137c

Why are broke people hailing cabs in goa and blaming the locals? /s
If you can't afford and plan when you visit the most popular tourist destination in India and come here to blame the whole state for your ignorance then you can't be helped. Zero critical thinking skills found https://t.co/gdQpVXI7ds

Bruh – I'm a Goan. Your hand does not feed me. On a diff note, stop shaming Goan people. Direct your anger at the political regime, which does not offer dignity of travel even to Goans – but their time will be up soon 💪 Misguided angst is counter productive https://t.co/PPrd9WGPhC

Same people will happily get fleeced in Venice and justify it as “Arre it’s a tourist place” but not in Goa. And the calls for “reinforcements from Delhi” seriously Goa’s irritating with these sorts is well justified. https://t.co/LGMhBYuO23
