Goa Becomes 1st Indian State With 0 COVID-19 Cases; All 7 Patients Test Negative

In some really good news during these troubled times, Goa has become the first state to record zero COVID-19 patients. With over 17,000 corona positive cases in India, Goa is the only state that has not reported a single coronavirus case since April 3, reports Times of India.

As per Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, all the seven infected patients are natives of Goa. However, six of them had traveled to India from abroad. The seventh person was the brother of one of the patients.

“The repeat samples of the seven COVID-19 patients have tested negative for the infection. While six of them had been discharged earlier, the last patient was discharged on Sunday,” the CM was quoted saying by Business Standard.

The state had set up a dedicated hospital to treat the patients. And, after their recovery, they were shifted to a quarantine facility for observation. The CM thanked all the healthcare workers for their relentless services.

However, he also mentioned that all the restrictions during the lockdown will continue. He added that people should maintain social distancing and take necessary precautions. Goa being the first state to be COVID-19 free, gives us hope during the pandemic. We are sure all the other states will conquer the deadly virus too.
