Here’s How Alert Rail Officials Rescued A 12 YO From Falling Victim To Human Trafficking

The Ministry of Railways has become quite social media savvy in recent years. From providing prompt medical assistance to taking action against reports of corruption, the ministry has been both fastidious and swift.

Most recently, during the routine check of Train 12357, Railway Protection Force (RPF) Mughalsarai, U.P., found a 12-year-old girl travelling alone. After questioning the girl, they discovered that she was an oblivious victim of human trafficking.

On 21.02.2017 at about 21.48 hrs, during checking of Train No., RFP/Mughalserai/ECR fond one girl aged about 12-years travelling in the train in panicked and suspicious manner. On being asked, she disclosed that she fled from her school at Kundra and was travelling with one person who promised her to give a better living, but she could not find the person and got panicked. RFP Personnel detrained the girl and informed her parents. Later, the rescued girl was handed over to her parents after proper verification.

Human trafficking is a serious issue that’s plagued our nation for a very long time. Across the world, there are about 27 million adults and 13 million children who have fallen victim to this dark fate. Constant vigilance and prompt action is the only way for us to bring down these terrifying numbers. Like the Rail Ministry said, keep informing.
