Woman Goes On A Date With A Guy, Gets Angry For Having To Pay For Her Own Food

When we see the word “sexism” flash anywhere, we usually associate it with men. And more so after the incidents that have surfaced through the #MeToo movement last year and Hardik Pandya’s comments at Karan Johar’s show in 2019. However, that doesn’t mean that women don’t exhibit any signs of sexist behaviour.

Reddit user CuteBananaMuffin shared an incident where he had gone for a date with a girl. But his conversation with her showed that she was disappointed with him for a particularly dated reason.

Well… There goes the "friendship" with her from ChoosingBeggars

In case you missed it, the girl was furious because the guy had asked her to pay for her own food, which was a whopping 110 euros (which is around Rs. 9000).

While talking to Bored Panda about the affair, the Redditor explained that everything was fine until the bill came in. He said,

“The date was fun at first until she started talking about another guy and how much he liked him, but I thought ‘let’s eat, talk and leave’ since she’s into another guy, and it all crumbled when it came to the bill. She was shocked that I let her pay. She didn’t say anything at the time, but from her facial expression I realized she was furious.”

He further said that,

“I usually pay for both sides when it comes to the bill, but I’m a student and I work 60 hours a week to pay for food, books etc. so I obviously couldn’t afford to pay 110 euros for her food. I asked her out again to apologize pretty much for the previous time, hoping we can go to a cheaper place so I could make up for it, but as you can see, the result was really bad…”

Netizens were on the guy’s side and lauded him for not pulling any punches while pointing out the woman’s sexist mindset.

What is your take on this date? Do you think a man paying for a woman’s food counts as chivalry? Or are you of the opinion that in 2019, any self-respected individual won’t mind going Dutch? Let me know in the comments.
