“We met three years ago in a small lower east side bar for a friend’s birthday. Since that night, we have been together,” said Amit. “Although we have completely different personalities, thanks to our similar interests we hit it off instantly. Aditya is very creative. For me, being in performing arts, that was very important. I desired a partner who is passionate. A year in the relationship, we realized, we loved each other, and came out to our parents,” Amit told Vogue.

From Mehandi to Sangeet celebrations, Amit and Aditya took the nuptial vows with all the ‘riti-rivaz’ in New York recently. The wedding was an intimate affair with all the close family members and friends in attendance at the duo’s residence “which they built together”. The grooms even coordinated their outfits for all their wedding ceremonies and chose to twin in similar Anita Dongre outfits for their D-Day.

The much in love couple has shared numerous pictures from their wedding on Instagram. “Love is meant to be celebrated,” reads Amit’s caption for his wedding pictures.

Talking about the wedding Amit said, “We wanted a proper Indian wedding. At a time when Aditya’s parents, who are based in India, were visiting us in America for the first time felt like the ideal date. It was all completely organic, we didn’t force anything. We are truly lucky to have parents who are so supportive.”

“It was a simply ceremony only with our friends and family. We did a puja, garland exchange and pheras,” Madiraju added. “We didn’t realize the impact a simple wedding at a temple would have on people around the world looking for hope. There is no secret to acceptance, tolerance, or happiness. You just have to find the right partner to take the step with. Let the truth of your love speak for itself,” said Amit.

After completing all the ceremonies the couple headed to their favorite eatery Pondicheri NYC to celebrate. “We would go to the eatery often when we lived in the city so we wanted to bring the celebration back there,” said Aditya.

We hope people take inspiration from Amit and Aditya and welcome the idea of a full-fledged Indian wedding for gay couples with all their heart!

We wish you a happily ever after Amit and Aditya! You guys are truly an inspiration for millions!
