Alia Bhatt starrer crime drama film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ made a lot of buzz when it was released earlier this year. Apart from the storyline, Alia’s acting as this strong and determined courtesan received a lot of praise online.
The internet was filled with people dressing up like the titular character and making reels lip-syncing to some popular dialogues and songs from the movie. Having said that, we can’t ignore the fact that the movie was also criticized for multiple reasons.
But, the film still continues to influence people, not just in the country but across borders as well. Recently, the film inspired a Malay fashion show.
Several models from Malaysia’s Northern Haute Couture Fashion Show were seen walking the ramp dressed up as Gangubai from the Bollywood movie.
Fashion models from Malaysia gave a modern twist to Gangubai’s traditional avatar and took over the runway in white custom-made gowns complete with a tight bun, retro sunglasses, and a huge red bindi on their foreheads. Not to forget the red roses on their buns in typical Gangubai fashion.
Each model reminds us of the gorgeous character.
