Dahi or yogurt is one of the many staple food items that’s always present in desi households because moms love to run behind us with a bowl of dahi-chini whenever we are about to do something important.
It’s actually versatile too. Mix it with rice and some spices and you get South India’s special curd-rice. Want to drink something refreshing? Blend it in with sugar or salt, and enjoy your lassi or chaas.
And since it’s used for many different dishes, dahi is not often store-bought. I have seen my mom prepping late at night so that we could relish the delish fresh dahi with our aloo parathas for breakfast the next day. But, like always, foreigners just discovered that yogurt can be made at home too.
Recently, a video of a woman teaching her followers how to make dahi at home went viral. She was so excited and proud that she finally nailed the recipe to get cheaper yogurt at home and we like, ‘behen, hummey talent hai par ghamand nhi kiya kabhi.’

For those who are waiting for me to tell you the steps of making dahi, just watch her video. Or ask your mom. Actually, don’t. You might end up receiving a flying chappal for this.
Well, desis were beaming with pride and took a dig at foreigners for unearthing this age-old recipe in 2022.
Hahaha wait until they discover ghee can be made at home

If I had a paisa for everytime my American friends asked me if I made curd at home…. 🤦♀️
Also, if I had a nickle for the number of times my mum told me, 'what is there to "make" in dahi'! https://t.co/ygSVnKhFkD— Raksha Kumar (@Raksha_Kumar) July 12, 2022

Earlier, they were surprised when they discovered ‘Monkey Caps’ and ‘Leaf Plates’ which are being used in India for ages. Now stop taking our cultural diamonds for granted peeps and start flaunting indigenous products, what say?
