It is said that matches are made in heaven, but they’re often arranged on earth. One such match turned problematic for a groom from Ghormi in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh. It all began when an unmarried youth called Sonu Jain was approached by an acquaintance Udal Khatik, who reportedly said, “I will get you married but you will have to pay Rs 1 lakh in return.”
However, Sonu agreed to pay Rs 90,000 and earlier this week, Khatik had him meet a prospective bride named Anita Ratnakar. She was accompanied by Arun Khatik and Jitendra Ratnakar. Soon after, Sonu married Anita in the presence of their loved ones.
Following the festivities, the family members went to bed in their rooms. Jitendra Ratnakar and Arun Khatik, nodded off outside Anita’s room. Soon after, Anita claimed she was feeling unwell and went to the terrace to get some air.
Navbharat Times reports that the family realized she was missing in the middle of the night, but couldn’t find her. Apparently, Anita had jumped off the roof and fled her in-laws home. However, she was soon found by a cop on night patrol nearby.
The disappointed groom filed a complaint claiming he’d been cheated at Gormi police station. A case of fraud has been registered against Uday Khatik, Jitendra Ratnakar, Arun Khatik and Anita Ratnakar. 3 of the accused were arrested right away and a police investigation of the incident is underway.
