After a video of her went viral where she is heard singing a beautiful rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai’, Ranu rose to fame overnight and is now making TV show appearances!
After Himesh Reshammiya offered her a big break in his next film ‘Happy Hardy and Heer’, a video of her singing ‘Teri Meri Kahani’, a song from the film, in a studio with Himesh beside her, encouraging her and giving her a thumbs-up went viral. Fans from across the nation were cheering for her!
However, one Odhisha actor-cum-comedian who goes by the name Papu Pom Pom on social media made a parody video mocking Ranu recording session at the studio. According to sources, the video was received in a negative light and drew massive flak online.

People of the internet accused him of mocking her accomplishments, expressing how the video was made in such bad taste. So much so that an FIR has been lodged against him!
“At a time when people of the entire nation are welcoming Ranu Mondal’s rise to fame and cherishing her reunion with family members, Papu’s act of mockery on the singer is condemnable”, said film critic Dilip Hali.
Justifying his actions Papu said, “I had made the video with an intention of popularising the song. It was a ‘gift’ from one artist to another. However, controversy has emerged over the clip. If my actions have hurt anyone, I apologise.”
Trolls or no trolls, Ranu Mondal’s talent is going to see the light of the day. All she needed was a chance and now that she has received it, she is soaring high!
